Miro's modern art is a rebellion against conventional paintings; he wanted to produce art that portrayed emotions. The vibrant, thick black strokes in his paintings are synonymous with his evocative, poetic paintings. Probably the most fascinating element of his dreamy work is its enigmatic meaning. The museum provides a useful audio tape, which enlightens you with information on his sources of inspiration. It becomes apparent that much of his work is entrenched in political symbolism, most notably from the Spanish Civil War.
