Plaça Reial. Metro: Liceu (L3)

This square was built in order to improve the standard of living within the Barri Gòtic area. It has consequently grown into the centrepiece of the area. Plaça Reial is rich in restaurants and bars and is beautifully designed. Massive palm trees and flats with large arched doors decorate the square, as well as two street lamps designed by Antoni GaudÍ in his younger years. Although you should be prepared for the occasional street drunk slumped in the corners of the square, the police patrol the area continuously.
