The church was built over the grave of Santa Eulàlia, the patron saint of Barcelona. Within the church, the immense columns on either side of the central nave soar up to fan vaults, in keeping with the Gothic style. The sheer height of the church and the peaceful, candlelit setting enrich its spiritual atmosphere. It is a wonderful place to gather your thoughts and disconnect from the busy streets outside. The eight columns in a semi-circle formation, surrounding the altar and the beautiful 15th century stained-glass windows looking over them, are also fine examples of Gothic architecture.
