By car, go north on the C32 and turn off for Malgrat de Mar, then follow the signs for Blanes and Tossa (50 miles, one hour journey).

This is another good place for a day of swimming and lying on the beach, which is overlooked by a medieval castle. You share the beach with fishing boats. Although it is pretty touristy, the town has interesting, narrow streets and a line of restaurants with tables outside leading up the hill along the promenade.

There are festivals every month but the main one is from June 28 to July 2.
