The
World famous fishing town, with approximately 1,900 permanent residents,
proclaims itself to be the jewel of the towns lining the northern
part of the Costa Brava. During the 1950`s, tourism established
itself in cadaqués, along with many other coastal towns,
but no other town in the world has received so many famous artists
like "the Dali town". Matisse, Picasso, Duchamps, Man
Ray, Max Ernst, André Derain amongst others.
Culture
Various museums and different art galleries make Cadaqués
an ideal place for a cultural holiday. The Dali house is located
in Portlligat, a natural port, situated in a deep bay, enclosed
by the Portlligat island with ant Antoni beach.
Sant Pere de Rodes
The Sant Pere de Rordes monastery is on the other side of the mountain
from Cadaqués and it is considered to be the most important
building from the romantic era in Catalonia. The best way to get
there is on the Vilajuiga motorway or from the Selva Port. Various
small roads also arrive at the monastery.
